John Antes, President
John Antes has been named president for BJC HealthCare's newest hospital, Progress West HealthCare Center in O'Fallon, Missouri.

Antes, who brings extensive experience in new hospital start-ups, is enthusiastic about his new position. “BJC and the St. Charles County community have a unique opportunity to incorporate the latest innovations in hospital design, clinical practices and systems development from across the county to build, equip, staff and operate what is much more than just a hospital,” says Antes. “Progress West HealthCare Center will provide patient-centered care while reaching out to integrate and promote health and wellness into the community. In this respect Progress West HealthCare Center will truly be the community’s hospital, leading the way in creating a healthier place to live, work and play in St Charles County.”

Antes joins BJC from MedCath Incorporated, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has served as president and chief executive officer of the organization’s Heart Hospital of Milwaukee since 2002. Previously Antes was vice president of MedCath’s Harlingen Medical Center in Texas and executive director of its Heart Clinic in McAllen, Texas. His prior experience includes four years with Baptist Health System in Birmingham, where he served as director of ambulatory diagnostic services, and physician practice management and operations.

Antes earned a master’s degree in health administration from Washington University and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Memphis State University. He joined BJC’s Progress West team in January.

BJC HealthCare received approval March 29, 2004, from the state to build a new, 72-bed hospital in St. Charles County. Progress West HealthCare Center will further ensure the availability of health-care services to the residents of the fastest growing region in Missouri. St. Charles County will benefit from the conveniently located, quality health-care services the new hospital will provide. The entire St. Louis region will benefit from the creation of construction and health-care jobs.
