Antes Named President of Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital

JohnAntesBJC HealthCare expands the responsibilities of Progress West HealthCare Center president John Antes to include the president role at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.

Appointing a single individual to lead both BJC St. Charles County hospitals will enable better coordination of health care services to the community. Antes will focus on enhancing strategies in St. Charles County to deliver the highest level of service and clinical quality, improve the coordination of physician and staff initiatives, and ensure the adoption of best practices at both hospitals.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to build upon the excellent clinical care and patient experience provided by both hospitals for the St. Charles County community,” says Sandra Van Trease, BJC group president overseeing BJC’s community hospitals.

Since its opening two and one-half years ago, Progress West has exceeded growth projections and earned external recognition for outstanding quality of care. The Hospital has been embraced by the community and continues to open additional beds ahead of the anticipated schedule. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital opened a new patient bed tower in September and recently added Siteman Cancer Center services on site, along with a new outpatient surgery center and endoscopy center.

Antes, who holds a master’s degree in health administration from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, joined BJC in 2005 during the planning phase for Progress West. He serves on the Board of the St. Charles Economic Development Council, Partners for Progress and the Salvation Army Advisory Council for St. Charles County. He also is a member of the Lewis and Clark chapter of the Young Presidents Organization.
